Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains what personal information AsQuoted collects when you sell a device to us, how we use it, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK data protection law.
What we collect
Depending on how far you progress through selling a device, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and postal address.
- Device information — model, storage, network, battery health, condition, declarations about the device's history, and the IMEI number.
- Media you upload — photographs, screenshots, and video of the device.
- Transaction information — the price quoted, your acceptance or decline, and (collected separately at the payment stage) the bank details needed to pay you.
- Technical data — basic information your browser sends automatically, such as device type, used to operate and secure the website.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
We process your information to:
- Provide the service — review your submission, give you a quote, arrange collection, verify the device, and pay you. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Verify legitimacy — check the IMEI against databases of lost and stolen devices, and confirm the device is yours to sell. Legal basis: legitimate interests (preventing fraud and the trade of stolen goods) and legal obligation.
- Communicate with you — send confirmations, quotes, reminders, and shipping updates. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Meet legal duties — retain records required of businesses dealing in second-hand goods. Legal basis: legal obligation.
How long we keep it
We keep the media you upload (photos, screenshots, video) only as long as needed to assess and complete your sale, after which it is deleted. We retain transaction records (what we bought, when, from whom, and the IMEI) for as long as required by law for businesses dealing in used goods, which may be several years. If your submission does not proceed to a sale, we delete associated media and contact data within a reasonable period.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate — our hosting, database, and email providers — who process data on our behalf under contract.
- Device-checking services used to verify a device is not reported lost or stolen.
- Law enforcement, where we are legally required to do so or where a device is found to be reported stolen.
Where your data is held
Our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data (subject to records we must keep by law)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these, email help@asquoted.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
